The School of Foreign Languages (SFL) at Zhejiang University of Science and Technology, with its roots dating back to the Department of Foreign Languages establishment in 2002, has a rich and esteemed history. Currently, SFL comprises three primary teaching units: the English Department, the College Foreign Language Teaching Department, and the French Teaching Department, with the Language Laboratory Center as the auxiliary unit.
SFL also has five academic research centers and institutes: the Romania (the Black Sea Rim Countries) Research Center, The Center for Translation Study, the Foreign Language Education Institute, the Applied Linguistics Institute, and the Literature and Culture Research Institute.
SFLhas one major in English Language and Literature with about 350 full-time undergraduate students. The school has 74 faculty members, 66 of whom are full-time teachers. Of the staff includes four esteemed professors, 21 associate professors, and approximately 14 teachers with doctoral degrees. Additionally, the faculty includes seven foreign teachers from the U.S., Russia, France, Romania, enriching our academic environment with their unique perspectives and experiences.
The school maintains extensive cooperation and exchange with overseas universities such as the UK, the USA, Japan, Romania and other countries, with frequent exchanges of teachers and students. The opportunities for English majors to study abroad are expanding continuously, including the summer program at the University of California, Los Angeles, the study tour program at the University of Hertfordshire, the undergraduate and master’s program at the University of the West of Scotland in the UK, exchange programs at the University of Southern Queensland in Australia, Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, Chosun University in South Korea, and J.F. Oberlin University in Japan.
